Byron and Carla were married on June 16, 1984. They have three grown children and five grandchildren. After a decade in student ministry, they founded Legacy Family Ministries in 1995.

They are the authors of Together: Building a Godly Marriage—a marriage small group study; To Have and To Hold: Preparing for a Godly Marriage—a marriage prep Bible Study workbook; and Before Forever: How do you know that you know—a book for seriously dating couples asking the tough “how do you know” questions. They have written and developed various marriage prep resources over the past 25+ years while working directly with pre-engaged and engaged couples.

Byron and Carla graduated from Baylor University. Carla has done graduate work in Exercise Physiology. Byron earned a doctorate in educational leadership. In addition to serving on church staff for 15+ years, Byron served 15+ years in higher education–most recently as Vice President for Student Life at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.
